Autism is classified as a neuro-developmental condition and influences development and lived experience across the entire lifespan.

Perceiving differently—and understanding yourself more deeply.

Neurodivergence is part of human diversity: not a flaw, but a different way of experiencing the world.

When adapting consistently requires effort or becomes distressing, a diagnostic assessment can provide clarity and relief.

The first step does not require certainty—only the impulse to take yourself seriously.

The aim of a comprehensive diagnostic assessment is always to improve quality of life. Careful and thorough differential diagnostic evaluation is essential in order to avoid misdiagnosis and to protect individuals from unsuitable or potentially harmful treatment approaches.

Costs

Billing is carried out in accordance with the German Fee Schedule for Psychotherapists (GOP).

Private health insurance providers generally reimburse the full scope of the assessment.

Self-pay patients:
You will, of course, only be charged for services actually provided (for example, if screening results are unremarkable).
We are happy to provide a cost estimate upon request.

Statutory health insurance:
Unfortunately, direct billing with statutory health insurance providers is not possible in our private practice setting.

Additional information on ASD

Dual Diagnosis - today possible and meaningful

In the past, Attention-Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) were not diagnosed at the same time.

Today we know:

  • Both are distinct clinical conditions
  • They can co-occur
  • A combined diagnosis allows for more targeted and individualized support

Prevalence

  • 20–50% of individuals with ADHD also meet criteria for ASD
  • 30–80% of individuals with ASD also meet criteria for ADHD
  • ADHD only: approx. 50–80%
  • ASD only: approx. 20–70%

Heritability

There is no single “autism gene” or “ADHD gene”—both conditions are influenced by many genes.

ADHD is highly heritable > approx. 70–80% of the variation is explained by genetic factors

This means: genetics play a major role.

Autism is also strongly genetically influenced > approx. 70–90% of the variation is explained by genetic factors

This means: autism often runs in families, although environmental factors also play a contributing—though smaller—role.

What does this mean for parents?

If your child receives a diagnosis, the likelihood increases that you may recognize similar patterns or traits in yourself.

This is meant to be relieving—not an indication that you did something wrong, “raised your child incorrectly,” or are to blame.

Self-assessment

A personal diagnostic evaluation can help to:

  • Better understand your child’s behaviour
  • Identify your own strengths and challenges
  • Enable more targeted support for the entire family
